A Rear Cinch, also known as a flank cinch, needs to be properly adjusted to fit your horse. This strap should be snug but not tight. You wouldn't want the flank cinch to be floppy and loose because it would not do the job it was created for and that is to keep the rear of your saddle from rising up. Also, loose rear cinches can cause an accident with your horse either getting his leg caught in it swatting at a fly or it can also get caught on brush as your riding thru the trails and wooded areas.
